Montenegro's amendments to the Resolution on the International Day of Reflection and Commemoration of the 1995 Genocide in Srebrenca have been accepted, marking a significant success for Montenegrin diplomacy and a victory for all people in the region.

Prime Minister Milojko Spajić, on this occasion, reiterated that the essence of the amendments has been preserved in the final text, believing that this is an additional contribution to regional reconciliation and good relations among Serbs, Bosniaks, and all other people in the Balkans.

The amendments proposed by Montenegro aim to rectify distorted and incorrect interpretations and prevent misunderstanding and further politicisation of this issue.

It is worth noting that through intensive diplomatic correspondence and significant efforts, Montenegro succeeded in harmonising two amendment formulations that unequivocally emphasise that criminal responsibility under international law is individualised and cannot be attributed to any ethnic, religious, or other group or community as a whole. Furthermore, it highlights the unwavering commitment to preserving stability and nurturing unity in diversity in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The efforts and actions of our diplomacy are based solely on a friendly and reconciliatory approach. We are confident that the results we achieve, both domestically and in foreign policy, clearly reflect our proactivity and dedication to the progress of Montenegro and the entire region.
