Professional training programme for young Montenegrin diplomats and civil servants within the initiative "Dialogue for the Future" has been successfully completed

Professional development programme for young Montenegrin diplomats and civil servants entitled "Social Cohesion: Cooperation, Trust and Development" organized in cooperation with the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) within the regional initiative " Dialogue for the Future ", ended yesterday with the awarding of certificates to a group of 28 participants. At the closing ceremony, which was organized in an online format, the participants were addressed on behalf of the  Ministry of Foreign Affairs by Ambassador Mirsad Bibović and the UNDP Resident Representative Daniela Gasparikova.

 On that occasion, Ambassador Bibović pointed out that civil servants are the bearers of further development of Montenegrin society, reminding that the credibility of institutions includes integrity, professionalism and transparent communication. Besides, he pointed out the importance of nurturing a culture of competence. UNDP Resident Representative Gasparikova emphasized the importance of topics in the focus of the programme such as trust among people and institutions, the importance of the role of women in society and respect for diversity. On top of that, she expressed satisfaction with the commitment of young diplomats and civil servants to the further development of Montenegrin society.

 The capacity building programme for young diplomats and civil servants from Montenegro placed special emphasis on issues of social cohesion and intercultural communication in the global world, and during a series of webinars participants had the opportunity to learn more about the concept of functioning of social cohesion through the prism of building trust between people, as well as trust in institutions and decision makers. During the sessions that took place in the period from February to April 2021, special attention was paid to the role of women in society and diplomacy, as well as issues of importance for strengthening trust between various social actors and their willingness to cooperate for development.

 This is the second in a series of programmes for young diplomats and civil servants, which was realized within the regional initiative "Dialogue for the Future". The programmes brought together more than 50 participants and prominent speakers from the country and abroad, who contributed to further strengthening the capacity of public administration through a series of 10 interactive workshops and webinars and developing new communication and networking systems. The regional initiative "Dialogue for the Future" is jointly implemented by UN teams and relevant institutions in Montenegro, the Republic of Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina with the aim of strengthening social cohesion, trust and respect for diversity, and is funded by the UN Peacebuilding Fund.
