Radulović and Lajčák: High support of Montenegrin citizens for the idea of ​​the EU as a value of the Union

The conversation between Montenegrin Foreign Minister Đorđe Radulović and EU Special Representative for the Western Balkans and Belgrade-Pristina Dialogue Miroslav Lajčák was an opportunity for the two diplomats to express their conviction that enlargement and European integration policy is extremely important, not only for aspiring countries, but for the Union itself.

"The European perspective is the most important driving force of the reform processes," Lajčák said, speaking on this topic. In that context, the high percentage of support that the European idea has in Montenegro, which, according to its Minister of Foreign Affairs, reaches up to 80 percent, represents a value for the EU itself. "The trust of Montenegrin citizens is proof of commitment to the European value system. In Montenegro, the EU is the main moving force, and the Government, as a highly pro-European, is making intensive efforts for economic, medical and social recovery, "said Minister Radulović during the online conversation.

Speaking about the commitment of the Government in order to fulfill the strategic goals, the head of Montenegrin diplomacy expressed his belief that Montenegro will continue to fulfill the tasks from the EU agenda and that will accelerate the reform processes.

Minister Radulović stated that regional cooperation for Montenegro is also essential for the prosperity of its citizens. As a country that is already in the phase of negotiations during which it has temporarily closed certain chapters, Montenegro is ready to help neighboring countries with its experience in this area.

Lajčák emphasized the importance of Montenegro's role in the regional dialogue, praising our country's commitment to European integration, which was once more evidenced by the acceptance of the new methodology in EU accession.
