Radulović and Pezzuto: Great contribution to relations between Montenegro and the Holy See
Today, Minister of Foreign Affairs Đorđe Radulović welcomed Archbishop Monsignor Luigi Pezzuto, the Apostolic Nuncio of the Roman Catholic Church to Montenegro, seated in Sarajevo since 2013. in his farewell visit.
The Head of Montenegrin Diplomacy thanked Nuncio Pezzuto on his contribution to strengthening of interstate connections and friendship between Montenegro and the Holy See, which testified of his dedication and commitment to the high mission that he performed in Montenegro.
He pointed out that Montenegro is a multiethnic and a multiconfessional country, dedicated to full valorization of spiritual and cultural traditions of all religious communities. He added that our country exceptionally respects the reputation of the Holy See and its active participation in solving global issues.
Pezzuto emphasized the significance of resident representation of the Holy See in Montenegro, and pointed that such a step would additionally confirm close and friendly relations between the two countries.
With a reminder that Montenegro is the first Balkan state and one of the first countries with Orthodox majority which has signed the fundamental contract with the Holy See, Interlocutors assessed that this serves as a real indicator of Montenegro’s respect for its Catholic citizens.
Speaking of the work done by the Mixed comission for its implementation, which had five sittings so far, Pezzuto conveyed the wishes of the Sarajevo Nunciature which covers Montenegro on a non resident basis, that two Ministers of foreign affairs should be „honourable chairmans“.
Minister Radulović agreed with Nuncio Pezzuto, saying that the changes in the Montenegrin part of the commission will be finalized in the upcoming period.
Nuncio Pezzuto stated his certainty that the Holy See will appoint a successor which will continue his mission and improve the relations with our country in the best way possible.
