Radulović in Thessaloniki: Good EU-WB relations will contribute to the enlargement process

"Conference on the Future of Europe” offered EU citizens a unique space for open discussion regarding priorities and challenges, sending a clear and undoubtful message that EU institution doors are open. Support in the frame of this project gives the “Western Balkans join the dialogue on the future of Europe” where Foreign Affairs Minister Đorđe Radulović participated at the invitation from Alternate Minister of Foreign Affairs Miltiadis Varvitsiotis.

During the discussion Minister Radulović emphasized that Montenegro stays consistent to peace and stability of the Region, European values and main foreign policy goal – EU membership. In spite of skepticism regarding enlargement, European integration and continuity of democratic reforms in context of the Region, are a part of the road where EU support is very important.

One of the ways for better understanding is, as he pointed, participation of candidate states at the Conference of the Future of Europe which can serve as an important political asset in enlargement dynamics, forum for the dialogue, but also space where candidate states will find solutions for challenges and realization of the European agenda goals.

“Continuous cooperation and dialogue between European side and those who negotiate are important elements of the enlargement process as a whole”, Minister Radulović concluded.

Confirming commitment to European integration process, participants pointed out that EU and WB states share the same future and that, with joining of the Region countries, EU will become a stronger and more resilient community

This event was an opportunity for affirmation of the effort Montenegro made in the negotiations process, as well as for the discussion regarding future challenges of the European integration plan.

The meeting was attended by Slovenian Foreign Affairs Secretary of State, Gašper Dovžan, as a country who holds the presidency of the Council of the EU and Foreign Affairs Ministers of Western Balkans countries.

After the Conference, participants visited an exhibition regarding 40th anniversary of Greek accession to the European Economic Community.
