Radulović – Karelson: Estonia will provide expert support to Montenegro within the European integration
Montenegro and Republic of Estonia are tied with friendly bilateral relations, that are additionally empowered with NATO membership, as has been appraised at today's meeting between Foreign Minister Radulović with non-resident Ambassador of this country Kristi Karelsohn.
Head of Montenegrin diplomacy reminded on significant support that Estonia has provided to us during our accession to the Alliance, as well as expected results of forthcoming NATO summit in Brussels, where Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapić will lead Montenegrin delegation. As has been stated, both countries expect that member states will again show transatlantic unity and solidarity, where Western Balkans and Baltic region deserve special attention of allies. He informed collocutor that, beside active engagement within the Alliance, foreign policy priority of our country is membership in EU family. „We devotedly work on that, which has been confirmed also with adopting of new methodology in negotiations. Still, we expect acceleration of process through implementation of qualitative reforms on ground, in the period ahead, where Estonian support is very important “, he stated. On that line, he expressed interest for further providing of expertise, especially in the areas of rule of law, fishery and using of EU structural funds.
Ambassador Karelsohn stated that Estonia will continue to strongly support our European path, thus that is ready to provide concrete expertise in areas where it is most needed. She emphasized that her country experienced complexity of integration process, while offering all collected knowledge to Montenegro, that now is stepping on towards its European goal.
Collocutors expressed expectation that bilateral consultations between two ministries of foreign affairs will continue as good cooperation mechanism. Also, the great potential for improving communication in the defense field, digitalization, justice, transport, education, science, culture and agriculture has been recognized.
Collocutors also exchanged views on events on European and global politic arena and positions of two countries. They also expressed the pleasure with marking of 15 years from establishing official relations between our countries, while reminding that Estonia is first country with which Montenegro established diplomatic ties.
