Radulović – Linde: Montenegro and Kingdom of Sweden committed to European integration and safety of the Region, as well as improving cooperation in areas of tourism and economy
Montenegro and Kingdom of Sweden have great relations and committedly work on intensifying of political dialogue, as well as on improvement of cooperation in areas of European integration, tourism, attracting foreign investments and promoting security. In the same time, Montenegro is reliable and active partner of the OSCE, that develops close relations with Organization and support its priorities, as it has been appraised on today's meeting between Minister of Foreign Affairs Đorđe Radulović with Chair of OSCE and Foreign Minister of Kingdom of Sweden Ann Linde, who is paying official visit to Montenegro.
Having in mind that Minister Linde is visiting Podgorica also in the capacity of OSCE’s Chair, it has been emphasized that role of Montenegro in the sustainable development, regional peace and safety is of extraordinary importance and in accordance with concept of general security that this Organization promotes.
Minister Radulović stated that Government of Montenegro will continue cooperation with the OSCE Mission in Montenegro, in context of implementing reforms in key areas – fight against corruption and organized crime, justice, electoral system, strengthening human rights, and promotion of economic development and environment protection.
Head of Montenegrin diplomacy expressed the belief that Sweden will continue to politically and expertly support our foreign policy goal - membership in the EU, thus conveyed expectation that we will start with more dynamic closure of chapters through implementation of the new methodology. Speaking about cooperation in economy area, Minister Radulović stated that attracting credible investments from Sweden is in our focus, on which we are devotedly working through economic diplomacy concept.
Minister Radulović informed Minister Linde with current epidemiological situation in Montenegro, stating that we are leaders in vaccination in accordance with population number, thus that we are undertaking all necessary measures aiming at achieving more successful tourism season. On that line, he invited Swedish tourist to visit Montenegro, that will be safe tourism destination until summer.
Minister Linde appraised that good relations between countries, that are particularly demonstrated during pandemic through repatriation of Swedish tourists, need to be additionally strengthened through many potentials in tourism sector. She added that specific Swedish companies are present in Montenegro, thus that it is necessary to undertake additional activities on connecting investors, in areas of new technologies, energy and start-app.
In context of negotiations with EU, she stated that Sweden supports membership of Montenegro, and implementation of reforms, appraising that now there is need to implement of new methodology and create progress in areas of rule of law and human rights. She praised full compliance of Montenegro with EU foreign and security policy. She appraised that it is important for EU and Region to work jointly on overcoming differences, thus significantly resolving remaining topics regarding borders with neighbors, particularly in the context of approaching the EU.
Minister Linde stated that Montenegro has close relations with the OSCE and actively contributes to the implementation of priorities during presiding, among which are many safety challenges. On that line, she stated the important role of Montenegro in securing regional safety and stability. She added that OSCE will work on increasing participation and economic empowering of woman in the Region, whereas its Mission will provide all necessary support to our country.
It is commonly appraised that today’s visit will give additional impulse to the strengthening overall relations, as on bilateral, as through acting under the OSCE, aiming at preserving democracy, safety and stability in Europe.
