Radulović – Rinkēvičs: We will intensify co-operation in areas of tourism and economy
Montenegro and Latvia as partner states develop a political dialogue and are ready to intensify cooperation in areas of tourism and economy. We especially value the contribution of Montenegrin military in Latvia’s Ādaži Military Base – It was stated at today’s meeting between Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro and the Republic of Latvia Đorđe Radulović and Edgars Rinkēvičs who is in his first official visit in Podgorica.
Head of Diplomacy Radulović said that Montenegrin – Latvian friendship and fruitful relations are characterized by partnership and openness, and continuous mutual support on bilateral and multilateral level. He added that we appreciate Latvia’s strong support to our foreign policy priorities, amongst which is joint engagement within NATO.
Latvia, as a developed democracy which achieved observable results in the integration process, stands as our role model, encouragement, but also inspiration towards achieving our foreign policy goal – membership in the EU – Minister Radulović said.
Head of Diplomacy conveyed Montenegro’s interest for participation in the Three seas Initiative, as an observer state, assessing that European regional platform provide a reliable model for our common European future.
Minister Rinkēvičs said that Montenegro stands as a reliable partner to Latvia, and that they especially value our contribution in the Enhanced Forward Presence (eFP) Mission. When it comes to the European integration, he pointed out that Latvia supports the enlargement policy, and that so far, Montenegro is a successful example in the accession process. He said that Montenegro will be invited as a guest to the Three Sea Initiative Summit which will be held in Riga. He assessed that the Summit will be an opportunity for connecting business communities, civil sector and parliaments, as well as creating possibilities for improving co-operation in the area of transport, energetics and digital infrastructure.
Ministers discussed models for establishing direct flights between Montenegro and Latvia, which would significantly increase tourist exchange in the summer period.
