Reconstruction of Bar - Kamenički most - Krute regional road begins
The reconstruction of the regional road from Bar to Kamenički most and Krute, aimed at improving the connection to the Sukobin border crossing with Albania and enhancing the links between Bar and Ulcinj, has officially begun.
Prime Minister Milojko Spajić, along with Minister of Transport Maja Vukićević, Director of the Transport Administration Radomir Vuksanović, and presidents of municipalities of Bar and Ulcinj, Dušan Raičević and Genci Nimanbegu, inaugurated the start of the 14-kilometer project.
Prime Minister Spajić said that this project had been discussed for over a decade but lacked support from the central level. "We have rolled up our sleeves and started the work," he said, emphasising the importance of national consensus on infrastructure projects.
Minister Vukićević expressed satisfaction that the reconstruction of this critical road had finally begun, stating that it would significantly ease traffic between Bar and Ulcinj. She highlighted the excellent cooperation with both municipalities.
Director Vuksanović explained that the 14-kilometer road reconstruction would cost €12.2 million, with a completion target of October 2026. He added that the contractor, Putevi Bar, was expected to finish the works on time.
President of the Municipality of Bar Raičević described the road as a "path of friendship and unity" and thanked the local community for their patience. He emphasised that the reconstruction would improve living conditions for locals and help attract tourists.
President of the Municipality of Ulcinj Nimanbegu echoed these sentiments, calling the project a significant achievement for Bar, Ulcinj, and Montenegro, reflecting a commitment to addressing key issues for citizens.
