Spajić to meet with Mitsotakis on 10 April: Huge potential for cooperation between Montenegro and Greece
Prime Minister Milojko Spajić will meet with Prime Minister of Greece Kyriakos Mitsotakis in Athens on 10 April. Ahead of the visit to Greece, Prime Minister Spajić held discussions with Kostas Fragogiannis, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.
During the meeting, full support for Montenegro's EU path was emphasised by Greece.
We view you very positively, admire the work you have done, and what you have achieved in a short time. Greece strongly supports a united Europe, including the integrated Western Balkans. We are fully committed to the idea of Montenegro becoming a full member of the EU. We are ready to offer expert assistance, as well as cooperation across multiple areas, stated Fragogiannis.
Prime Minister Spajić stressed that Greece could serve as an excellent example, having implemented remarkable economic reforms and achieved impressive results.
We are working tirelessly on the EU agenda and obtaining IBAR, and your assistance would be of great importance to us. We are also focused on economic reforms because we want to ensure balanced and sustainable growth for Montenegro. Our intention is to set an example for the region and build bridges on the path to the united European family, said the Prime Minister of Montenegro.
During the discussions, the enormous potential for closer economic cooperation between the two countries was highlighted, and in that context, organizing a business forum was identified as a platform for generating numerous collaboration ideas.
Prime Minister Spajić presented a plan for significant infrastructure investments, which could also be an opportunity for the participation of Greek companies. The possibility of cooperation in renewable energy, biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries, as well as maritime transport, was emphasised. Greece is prepared to provide technical support and offer financing models for development in these areas.
It was concluded that there is an interest in Greek banks entering the Montenegrin market.
