Spajić: We remain a committed, reliable and credible ally
Prime Minister Milojko Spajić is leading the Montenegrin delegation at the NATO Summit taking place in Washington.
On the occasion of the Summit's commencement, Prime Minister Spajić expressed his pleasure in leading the Montenegrin delegation and emphasised that this year, marking NATO's 75th anniversary, is significant due to the historic improvement in burden-sharing among NATO allies.
23 allies, including Montenegro, are currently at or above the minimum level of 2% of GDP for defence spending. That is more than twice as many as just four years ago, he stated.
We are investing in modernization and equipment with 35% of our defence budget and are ready to remain a committed, reliable, and credible NATO ally, the Prime Minister affirmed.
The Summit is an opportunity to strengthen our alliance and adapt to new security challenges, the Prime Minister said, expressing his expectation that it will result in concrete actions contributing to global security and stability.
On the sidelines of the Summit, the Prime Minister had numerous meetings and discussions with the leaders of member states, including US President Joe Biden, French President Emmanuel Macron, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Icelandic Prime Minister Bjarni Benediktsson, and many other officials.
