The Cabinet of President Macron: France as true friend and partner stands with Montenegro
“We perceive France as a friend and partner, thus advocate for intensifying activities that will contribute to the creation of operative cooperation mechanisms”, Minister of Foreign Affairs Đorđe Radulović stated during the meeting with Isabelle Dumont, Advisor for Continental Europe and Turkey in the Cabinet of French President Emmanuel Macron.
In the context of good bilateral relations, Head of Montenegrin diplomacy stressed the importance of promotion and improvement of political dialogue between two countries, while expressing the pleasure with communication at interstate level. “We look forward to the following video call between Prime Minister Krivokapić and President Macron, for that I am sure that will additionally incite realization of joint plans and confirm commitment of our states to the key democratic values such as rule of law, human rights and fight against corruption”, Minister Radulović stated, while reminding on recent encouraging message that President Macron submitted to Montenegrin Prime Minister – France stands with our country, so that completely supports its European perspective.
Advisor in the Cabinet of the President Dumont welcomed so far activities of Montenegro directed towards qualitative achievement of obligations on the European road and acceleration of integration process. As she stated, France will support every initiative that contributes to the upgrading of legal framework, as basis for social and economic development. When we speak about concrete programs of support, she reminded that French Development Agency will start activities in Montenegro in accordance with sustainable development goals, through 50 million of euros worth project, “which is clear proof of our commitment to the bilateral cooperation”.
With remark that cooperation of two countries is additionally empowered with NATO alliance, with particular focus on joint engagement within Berlin process, directed towards strengthening of stability of the Western Balkans and full membership of the Region in the EU, it has been emphasized that France will continue to support Montenegro and Western Balkans’ countries through expertise. Support will be reflected in the implementation of reforms in sensitive areas such as rule of law, economic and social development.
Dumont stressed that France is undertaking important efforts when it comes to fight against pandemic, so the vaccination process in the EU can be more dynamic, as well as that through COVAX mechanism, in which it invested 100 million of euros, wants to participate in the realization of same goal in the Western Balkans. She also added that qualitative ties with Montenegro are being confirmed with announcement of bilateral donation of medical equipment for fight against COVID-19.
Collocutors also discussed about need of dynamization of joint efforts aiming at enhancing cooperation in the fields of tourism, economy, investments, bank sector and sustainable energy resources. On that line, continuing of communication in the period ahead has been agreed.
During the third day of Minister Radulović’s working visit to Paris, meeting with representatives of Montenegrin diaspora in France has been organized. Head of diplomacy stressed the significance that this community has for native state, thus informing collocutors of plans of the Ministry oriented to creation of conditions for better inclusion of Montenegrin citizens working and living abroad. The importance of continuing with cooperation with Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport, has been emphasized, in order to support school for our emigrants’ children, as well as intensifying collaboration with Division for Diaspora on concrete projects. Radulović stressed commitment of the Ministry in providing help aiming at concretization of investments in Montenegrin economy.
