Vućić Popović attends wreath-laying ceremony at monument for Bulgarian students in Bijelo Polje
Today in Bijelo Polje, a wreath-laying ceremony was held at the monument at the site of the tragedy in Gostun, where twenty years ago a bus carrying Bulgarian students veered into the Lim River, resulting in the loss of twelve children aged between 12 and 15.
Following the wreath-laying ceremony, a commemorative session was held at the Cultural Center, attended by Deputy Secretary-General Irena Vućić Popović on behalf of the Government of Montenegro.
For the twentieth consecutive year, we gather at this site of a great tragedy that claimed the lives of twelve Bulgarian students in the swollen Lim River. As we express immense sorrow for the lost children, we also extend profound gratitude on behalf of the Government of Montenegro to all those who selflessly did everything within their power to rescue the survivors, said Vućić Popović in her address.
The event was also attended by Vice President of the Republic of Bulgaria Iliana Iotova.
