We support efforts to achieve peace, stability and prosperity in the Middle East
Prime Minister Dritan Abazović met today with Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Montenegro Rabii Alhantouli. Montenegro, in accordance with the EU's stance, supports efforts to achieve lasting peace, stability and prosperity in the Middle East, said PM Abazović.
Prime Minister Abazović expressed satisfaction regarding the meeting with Ambassador Alhantouli, emphasising that the two countries have traditionally friendly and good cooperation, with interest in further strengthening and developing bilateral relations between Montenegro and the State of Palestine.
The Prime Minister emphasised that Montenegro, in accordance with universal principles of international law and adopted resolutions of the United Nations Security Council, supports the concept and idea of the two-state solution and compromise on the issue of Jerusalem, expressing hope that the efforts would pave the way for peaceful coexistence and tolerance in order to find a sustainable and just solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict that would ensure lasting peace and stability in the Middle East.
Prime Minister Abazović expressed regret over the escalation of violence over the past few weeks, in which a large number of victims have died, especially civilians, women and children, and noted that this has caused great concern to the wider international community.
Congratulating Abazović on his election as Prime Minister of the 43rd Government, Ambassador Alhantouli thanked and wished the Government successful work, expressing hope that the two countries would strengthen their cooperation and bilateral relations. The Ambassador used the opportunity to convey congratulations of Prime Minister of the State of Palestine Mohammad Shtayyeh. Ambassador Alhantouli spoke about the situation in Palestine and the problems that the citizens of the State of Palestine face, especially on the eve of religious holidays when violence has escalated.
