Zoran Brđanin relieved of duty, public call for acting police director from 4 to 10 March 2024
Tonight, during a telephone session, the Montenegrin Cabinet relieved Zoran Brđanin of his duties as the director of the Police Directorate.
Considering that the Police Directorate, as an organisational unit of the Ministry of the Interior, which operates in accordance with the Law on Internal Affairs, cannot remain without a management system, the mandate of the police director will expire on 12 March 2024.
The Minister of the Interior was instructed to announce a public call for an acting police director from 4 to 10 March 2024, in accordance with the agreement from the last Cabinet session. This aims to make the selection process more inclusive and transparent, and to dispel any doubts about the politicization of this position, stated Prime Minister Milojko Spajić.
After the completion of the public call, the Minister is obliged to submit a report on the conducted public call and a list of all applicants who meet the legal requirements for the position at the Cabinet session on 12 March, all with the aim of selecting the best candidate for this position.
