In response to dire flood situation in 12 Montenegrin municipalities, the Government determined priorities and tasks for engagement of all available resources and capacities to assisting the population in danger. The special emphasis is put on security, accommodation and medical protection of citizens in flooded areas, as well as on taking care of the life-stock.

The Government has set up an Operative Team with relevant Ministries and local governments, and the authorities are making every effort to enable safe use of public road, since many have been blocked by heavy flooding country-wide.

Medical operation teams have been set up throughout the country. Some of them are providing a non-stop medical assistance to evacuated citizens, especially in the Northern municipality of Berane, where around 1,000 people have been evacuated from their homes. In some municipalities, civil and military teams have joined the medical teams in assisting the people in danger.

In Ulcinj there have been reported dangers of devastation of the Velika Plaza beach due to heavy floods caused by the Bojana River, and four companies from Bar and Ulcinj have employed their resources in order to prevent the situation from escalating by building embankments. In this respect, the Government is working closely with the authorities of the Republic of Albania.

Rescue teams have been positioned throughout the country and will be on alert until the situation is brought under full control.
