Montenegro has put the Historic Core of Cetinje, the Old Town of Bar, Doclea, and the Biogradska Gora National Park on its Tentative List for UNESCO World Heritage List.
Tentative list is an inventory of properties which the nominating state considers to be of outstanding cultural and/or natural universal value and therefore suitable to be enlisted as World Heritage.
UNESCO only considers the sites put on Tentative Lists for inscription on the World Heritage List, and only after the formal nomination of the sites by the nominating state. Therefore, the presentation of a Tentative List represents an important initial step in adding more of Montenegro’s natural and cultural richess to the World Heritage.
The Ministry of Culture is already drafting the Nomination File and they expect that the Historic Core of Cetinje will be the first from the Tentative List to find its way to UNESCO World Heritage List.
