Podgorica, Montenegro (11 January 2012) – Prime Minister Igor Lukšić met with Kosovar Foreign Minister Enver Hoxhaj for talks on current political and economic issues in the light of further cooperation between Montenegro and Kosovo.
The two officials highlighted the importance of constitutional recognition of Montenegrin national community in Kosovo as quickly as possible. It would ensure its full representation in the Parliament and other Kosovar institutions and also create conditions for establishing diplomatic relations between the two countries through the appointment of Ambassadors in Podgorica and Priština.
Montenegro and Kosovo are soon to sign a set of bilateral agreements with the aim of boosting cooperation in particular in the fields of economy, infrastructure, investments and tourism.
“Regional infrastructure projects, such as a railway and a highway, are to advance relations between countries and make the European perspective of the region more certain”, PM Lukšić noted.
The two official also exchanged views on political situation in the region, with particular emphasis on the relations between Beograd and Priština, noting that the further dialogue should be encouraged.
