Slovakia offers full support to Montenegro’s EU and NATO bid
Slovakia’s experience in gaining independance and its support to Montenegro’s path towards the EU and NATO are invaluable to Montenegro, Montenegrin Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic stated Sunday in Podgorica during his meeting with Slovakian Foreign Minister Mikulas Dzurinda. He placed special emphasis on the rule of law, as the key issue for the region and expressed Montenegro’s readiness to meet that condition successfully.
Minister Dzurinda congratulated Montenegro on the resuls achieved, especially the imlementation of the NATO’S Membership Action Plan and obtaining European Commission’s positive Opinion, expressing his belief that Montenegro will be granted the candidate status for the EU membership in December. He also underlined Slovakia’s readiness to provide assistance to Montenegro in meeting its strategic goals.
The two officials underlined excellent relations between the two countries, stating that economic ties need to be further enhanced, especially in the fields of infrastructure, energy and tourism.
