OSCE Mission Podgorica, Montenegro (6 October 2011) – The achievements in the areas of judicial reform and the rule of law, as well as in other areas covered by the European Commission’s key recommendations are impressive, Ambassador Sarunas Adomavicius, Head of OSCE Mission to Montenegro, pointed out at the meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice Duško Marković on Wednesday.
He informed DPM Marković about the OSCE activities and projects in 2011 and 2012 aimed at harmonising those activities and future projects with the plans of the Montenegrin Government for that period.
The meeting placed a particular emphasis on the importance of projects of Montenegrin courts monitoring that the OSCE plans to continue next year and announced the presentation of the Evaluation Report of the legislative framework in the anti-discrimination field done by the OSCE.
The two officials also exchanged views on the new legal solutions and legal institutions in criminal matters and stressed the significance of continuous trainings of police and prosecutors in implementing the new Code of Criminal Procedure. In this regard, they also stressed the necessity of organising regional meetings at the expert level to exchange experiences and best practices.
DPM Marković thanked the OSCE Mission for the cooperation and support provided to Montenegro in establishing democratic institutions, which is why this organisation, as he put it, holds a special place in recent Montenegrin history.
The two officials also announced the signing of the memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Justice and the OSCE Mission, thereby confirming previous successful cooperation and partnership.
