The Ministry for Human and Minority Rights calls for resolving the situation regarding Dictionary of Montenegrin National and Literary Language (I) as soon as possible

On the occasion of the situation which arose concerning the dictionary of Montenegrin national and literary language (I) issue and critics of many organizations and individuals regarding the meanings of certain words in the Dictionary, the Ministry for Human and Minority Rights urges Montenegrin Academy of Sciences and Arts to examine controversial meanings, as soon as possible.

Ministry for Human and Minority Rights does not deal with scientific and technical issues of linguistics and lexicography, but  protects national and religious rights consistently, and reacts in a situation where those rights are threatened, especially when representatives of ethnic and religious communities in Montenegro publicly announce that their community has been offended by an act.

Taking into account that this is very sensitive issue, we sincerely call on all participants of the public debate to refrain from bias and personal insults as well as from inciting political, national and religious intolerance, and to, in a quiet and professional dialogue, find relevant answers that will help to resolve this situation.
