Meeting Zenka-McCluney: "Gold seal" additional motivation for improving monitoring overall policies
The effect of the Office of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Montenegro is remarkable and the cooperation in the past decade has made many tangible results which we are very proud of said Minister for Human and Minority Rights Mehmed Zenka in conversation with Fiona McCluney Permanent Representative UNDP / coordinator of the UN System in Montenegro and Kaca Đurickovic, program Manager.
The Minister congratulated Ms Fiona McCluney and her team on the reward "gold seal" for outstanding achievements in the field of gender equality. According to him this prestigious international recognition awarded at the global level, UNDP Office in Montenegro fully deserved.
Minister Zenka reiterated the readiness of the Ministry for Human and Minority Rights to continue cooperation, especially in the area of improving the capacity of all those who are involved in politics of achieving equal opportunities.
According to him this award is a highly positive impulse to the successful cooperation that is already achieved, but to the motivation for improving the monitoring process of the implementation of the overall policy.
Ms. McCluney pointed out that the reward has been obtained for exceptional results in the advancement of gender equality and empowerment of women in Montenegro in politics, economy, family and social life and for the total implementation of the policy of equality. She added that only six member states of the United Nations received this recognition and that the assessed work, ration and the overall environment for the implementation of gender equality within UNDP, as well as the results of projects and programs always include a gender dimension. Therefore, this result is the result of all our partners, said McCluney.
She stressed the intention of the Office to Montenegro to continue its support in the process of gender mainstreaming policies at the national and local levels, and since the Ministry for Human and Minority Rights holds the most responsible role in monitoring the implementation of the policy of gender, our cooperation will be intensified in the forthcoming period, said McCluney.
It is proposed that the experience of UNDP, as well as the "seal of gender equality", can be successfully transferred to the work of the Government of Montenegro, and thereby strengthen the implementation of national policies to achieve gender equality. Regarding this, the ideas for future cooperation were exchanged, which will be more precisely defined at the beginning of this autumn.
