Meeting Zenka-Kemp: Great Britain an important support to the reform process of Montenegro

mmpThat Great Britain and Montenegro have a successfull cooperation in many fields of interest, thus also in the area of ​​strengthening the rule of law and fundamental human rights, it was stated once again during the meeting of Minister for Human and Minority Rights Mehmed Females with H.E. Alison Kemp ambassador of the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland in Montenegro.

Minister Zenka congratulated the Ambassador Kemp on her appointment and expressed confidence that she will continue to represent British values ​​in Montenegro in the best way. He recalled that the relations between Great Britain and Montenegro were established back in 1879 when the first diplomatic mission of Great Britain was established in Cetinje.

He pointed out that the UK has been a significant support to the reform process of Montenegro from the start and added that in the context of the said it highly prices the support obtained.

Montenegro is a significant factor of reforms in the region, especially in the preservation of stability, which is confirmed by its membership in NATO. By realizing this foreign policy objective, Montenegro has received a new energy to continue the accession negotiations for membership in the European Union, said Zenka. He praised the dynamics of the implementation of measures that gave results in various reform processes in the area of ​​legislation, law enforcement and strengthen the institutional framework, accentuating Chapter 23 and obligations that the Ministry for Human and Minority Rights has to meet the same.

Ambassador Alison Kemp thanked the Minister for the reception and the opportunity to exchange views on future cooperation and possibilities for further improvement of human and minority rights.

Thanks to her rich diplomatic experience and oeuvre, H.E. Kemp assessed Montenegro's progress in integration processes as very successful and reiterated the readiness of the country she represents that provides all the necessary technical support and after its admission into the European Union.

The interlocutors assessed relations between the two countries as good and friendly, and the continuation of cooperation will have upward character especially in the field of rule of law and the exercise of fundamental rights, which is crucial in the pre-accession negotiations.
