Meeting Zenka- Ozdemir: A solid foundation of cooperation built on respecting the old values

Minister for Human and Minority Rights Mehmed Zenka talked today with the director of the Turkish Cultural Centre in Podgorica, Yunus Emra, Jihan Ozdemir on the heritage of common history and the development of friendly interpersonal relations, culture, customs and tradition of the Republic of Turkey and Montenegro.

Zenka, pointing to the concept of interculturalism, emphasized that it is necessary for good co-existence to repeat good experiences and learn from the bad, and that the history of our nations represents an inexhaustible treasury of data, but it must not have a monotonous character.

Respecting all the new things have brought by modern times, we need to have a firm foundation built on respect for the old values, Zenka said and pointed out that Montenegro had established a good balance in that manner.

As a small country, Montenegro has a clear ambition which is being achieved by established dynamics. During the conversation it was concluded that after joining the NATO alliance, it showed the result of its persistence and responsibility in those efforts.

Mr Ozdemir stressed the importance of presenting and cultivating good bilateral relations between the two countries, but above all among  the people of the Republic of Turkey and Montenegro.

Regarding mentioned, the collocutors discussed in more detail the plans for the promotion of the sphere of interculturalism and historical heritage. It is planned that the first project activity of the Ministry for Human and Minority Rights and the Turkish Cultural Center Junus Emra will be on a regional level, while its implementation is expected in November this year.
