Meeting: Zenka-Makavi Kogali: Montenegro has a social potential when it comes to respecting human rights
Sincere and dedicated work in the area of protection of children's rights in Montenegro was confirmed once again during today's discussion of Minister for Human and Minority Rights Mehmed Zenka and the new Head of the UNICEF for Montenegro Osama Makavi Kogali.
Minister Zenka wished the new Head of the UNICEF Representative a successful mandate and work on the well-founded trail left by his predecessors. He pointed out that he believes that the success of cooperation with UNICEF can only have an upward character because Montenegro has a social potential in respect of human rights, and UNICEF successfully contributes to systemic changes in Montenegro.
Zenka presented the competencies of the Ministry for Human and Minority Rights and reiterated readiness for cooperation and exchanging of experiences in the field of child protection, especially from marginalized social groups and children affected by poverty. It is extremely important to consider UNICEF's focus on early child development since it has the greatest impact on perspectives, achievements and productivity in the continuation of life.
The new Head of the UNICEF thanked for the support, said that he was looking forward to the appointment in Montenegro and that he would continue to work with his colleagues from the previous mandates. Children need our greatest attention, and we will persistently and equally represent the rights of all children, said Makavi Kogali.
He expressed the willingness of UNICEF to, in partnership with all relevant actors in the country and society, make maximum efforts to ensure that every child in Montenegro exercises his/her right to a healthy and happy childhood.
During the meeting, the interlocutors reviewed the current challenges and needs in the child protection plan and agreed that intensive work will be intensified through regular consultations.
