Campaign and training on protection against domestic violence and juvenile forced marriages among the Roma population

The Ministry for Human and Minority Rights, in cooperation with the National Office for Combating Trafficking,  the Centre for Social Work, the Berane Municipality, the Red Cross of Berane, the NGO Center for Roma Initiatives, held in Berane a training for Roma and Egyptian students of the elementary school "Radomir Mitrović" regarding the problem of underage marriages. Children had the opportunity to discussed how to recognize  domestic violence and how to act if violence occurs, as well as the consequences of underage marriages. In addition to the above mentioned topics, lecturers pointed out to the extremely high importance of education for the Roma and Egyptian population, which is a prerequisite for inclusion in all aspects of social life in Montenegro. The activity involved 30 students. 
On the same day, after the training was conducted,  a Campaign for the parents of those children was organized in the Riverside settlement on the same topics. During the interview with parents, parents' interest in their children's education was noted.
The mentioned campaign and training are part of the measures from the Action Plan for Chapter 23 and the Action Plan for Implementation of the Strategy for Social Inclusion of Roma and Egyptians in Montenegro 2016-2020.
