Zenka-Petrović: Great support to potential victims in the Shelter for victims of trafficking in human beings

Legislation in the field of protection of women's human rights is good, however  successful  implementation is still far from desired, concluded Minister for Human and Minority Rights Mehmed Zenke earlier today in conversation with the President of the NGO "Montenegrin Women's Lobby" Aida Petrović and her associate Valentina Vlahović.

Ms. Petrović informed the Minister about the work of this organization, and cooperation that it has for the past thirteen years with the Government of Montenegro on implementing project activities related to the functioning of the Shelter for victims of human trafficking and SOS line for victims of trafficking.

The Minister exchanged opinion with the interlocutors on the challenges women face in their organization in terms of supporting and assisting the persons who are potential victims of trafficking. He sincerely paid praises to women from this non-governmental organization for their hard work, selflessness, love that they invest in twenty-four hours a day, in order to provide the necessary assistance to the people who are the shelters and shelters of the Shelter for Victims of Human Trafficking.

Petrović said that the users of the Shelter were often women from the Roma population, which is why this organization is additionally involved in several projects related to the prevention of early forced marriages in the Roma population, economic empowerment of women from vulnerable categories and training in relation to by acquiring craft skills.

Vlahović introduced Minister Zenka with the work of the Reintegration Center, which this organization successfully launched last year, with the support of  Turkey's Agency for International Cooperation and Coordination (TIKA) in Montenegro. According to her, this support service is of great importance for the persons who have been staying in the Shelter in order to re-engage in society.

At the meeting, it was agreed that the Minister will pay a visit to the Shelter and the Reintegration Center in the following days.
