Faculty of Law in Podgorica hosted the International Student Conference on Montenegrin legislation with the perspective of protecting the rights of the child

One of the most important rights of the child is that it needs to know its rights, said Minister for Human and Minority Rights Mehmed Zenka at the opening of the international student conference on Montenegrin legislation with the perspective of protecting the rights of the child and international standards, which was held earlier today at the Faculty of Law in Podgorica.
Minister Zenka greeted the participants on behalf of the Ministry for Human and Minority Rights and thanked for the opportunity being the head of the mentioned institution to discuss one of most important topics, the protection of the rights of the child. In his introductory addressing, he recalled the most important international and domestic documents in the field of protection of human rights and the rights of the child and added that every regulation is significant in the extent to which it is respected.
Zenka emphasized his belief that the national policy implemented by the Government of Montenegro, aimed at affirmation of human rights and freedoms, and the rights of the child through its mechanisms of protection, will enable all children in Montenegro to enjoy their rights equally, as they represent the potential and future of our societies.
Dean of the Faculty prof.dr. Velimir Rakocevic emphasized, in the context of the topic of the conference, that the importance of this topic was recognized at the Faculty of Law and that it is necessary to create opportunities for every child to fully and coherently develop his / her personality.
Snežana Mijušković spoke on behalf of the Institution of the Protector of Human Rights and Freedoms of Montenegro on the Convention on the Rights of the Child and in particular Article 44 of the Convention, which deals with the ways the monitoring the implementation of this document.by international community.
Dijana Popović-Gavranović pointed out the importance of the foundations of positive parenting on behalf of the Supreme State Prosecutor's Office. Also, as she stated, no international document places obligations on children or parents, but on the state.
Ibrahim Smailovic emphasized the importance of this topic in the perspective of the Ministry of Justice and stated that Montenegro belongs to a group of countries where the rights of the child are normatively fully protected.
The attitude of a society towards children is a picture of its responsibility and dedication to the future. It was said that is why we have to care and talk about our younger citizens and their rights and only for key reasons - moral and legal responsibility, but also because of the obligations that our country took over at the international level.
