Violence against a child is one of the most severe forms of human rights violations

The Ministry for Human and Minority Rights reminds that all children are born with fundamental freedoms and rights belonging to all human beings. Because of their age children are referred to adults for help. In this regard, we emphasize the obligation of the adults in the protection of the child as well as the need to protect the integrity of the child.

The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, as the most important international legal act, prescribes that every child has the right to life. The recent case of the murder of a 15-month-old boy sholud make us all think deeper  about the extent of real protection of our children and how much they enjoy their rights.

The Montenegrin society should react in the direction of full protection of the child against any form of violence and neglect by parents or other persons.

The Ministry for Human and Minority Rights appeals to citizens of Montenegro to inform competent institutions, Centers for Social Work and Police, in case of any knowledge of potential neglect or violence against a child, who are obliged to provide appropriate assistance.
