Meeting Zenka- McCluney: More resolute and more creative in the protection of human rights

Minister for Human and Minority Rights Mehmed Zenka met earlier today with the  permanent UN System Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative for Montenegro Fiona McCluney, with whom he discussed the problem of violence against women and domestic violence which is increasingly visible in Montenegrin society.

McCluney presented this year's UN idea to mark the 16 days of activism in the fight against violence against women and domestic violence.

At the meeting  the results of the recently conducted research within  the Program "Support to anti-discrimination and gender equality policies", funded by the Delegation of the European Union to Montenegro, implemented by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Office in Montenegro as an implementer mentioned Program, in cooperation with the Ministry of Human and Minority Rights, were also discussed.

 

Minister Zenka said that the UN System in the country will remain a reliable and honest partner of Montenegro in the fight against this and any other negative social phenomenon, and that ihe is looking forward to the good and successful cooperation, since it guarantees sustainable improvement of the society as a whole.

The Minister announced  readiness to cooperate with all relevant actors in order to protect and promote human and minority rights, in particular on the prevention and suppression of negative social phenomena such as violence.

It was jointly noted that in order to improve the existing situation in the field of respect and protection of human rights, more determined and creative actions are needed, which can reduce all forms of violence to a minimum.
