The International Day of Remembrance for the Victims of the Holocaust has been marked
The fact that the size of a man depends on the size of his memory reminded us today, once again, of the horror we call the Holocaust.
By burning six candles for six million murdered Jews, children, women and men, who have always been unprecedented in the genocide without precedent and the prayer that Rabbi Ari Edelkop held today for the souls of Holocaust victims, began the International Day of Remembrance for Holocaust victims.
Minister for Human and Minority Rights Mehmed Zenka attended the special program at the KIC Budo Tomović accompanied by his associates Žana Filipović and Blanka Radošević Marović, which was prepared to meet this occasion to important day, celebrated on January 27th.
H.E. Alona Fischer Kam, the non-resident ambassador of Israel in Montenegro, also attended the event. Her Excellency was impressed by the presence of a great number of young people and she used this opportunity to recall the importance of spreading knowledge among them. Her Excellency said that Montenegro is characterized by openness, religious and cultural tolerance and that it can be proud of its history, while anti-Semitism across Europe raises its head.
By forgiving anti-fascist heritage for more than seven decades, representatives of SUBNOR and Antifascists of Montenegro highlighted the importance of spreading knowledge among young generations, especially at a time when anti-semitism, homophobia, racism and other deviant phenomena which are rising across Europe.
Remembering the dead, we showed respect to those who survived, without whose testimony we would not even know exactly what had been happening. Becouse of the fact that there are not many of them who are still alive, we are obliged to build a bridge for the generations to come, because the lesson should never be forgotten, the representatives of the Gymnasium "Slobodan Škerovič" in Podgorica also recalled.
