The work started on preparation of the Basic Study on Gender Policies in the countries of the Western Balkans region
The importance of gender equality policy through the existing legislative, institutional mechanisms and practices which contributed to building democracy and stability in this region and the necessity of its implementation will be shown in a basic study of gender policies in the countries of the Western Balkans region.
The study will be completed by March 1st this year, as it was said at the meeting of the Regional Coordination Committee of the Balkan Region, held in Zagreb on January 25th and 26th.
The Regional Coordination Board of national gender equality mechanisms and associations of the Balkan region considered during a two-day meeting of the regional cooperation modality and future joint activities and projects.
The meeting was also attended by the Ombudsman for Gender Equality of Croatia, Višnja Ljubičić and Director of the Agency for Gender Equality of BiH, Samra Filipović-Hadžiabdić. Members of this Body, the President of the Committee on Gender Equality of the Parliament of Montenegro, Nada Drobnjak and Biljana Pejović, Head of the Department for Gender Equality of the Ministry of Human and Minority Rights, presented the challenges of implementing gender equality policy in Montenegro and the priorities of gender policies, as well as the results which Montenegro achieved in the previous period in this area.
It was concluded that regional cooperation is an important factor in achieving gender equality policy, especially in the context of recognizing common interests, good practices and the need to establish common standards in our countries that will contribute to a better position of women in this area.
