Zenka-Nagy: Montenegro invests into prosperity and stability of the European Union by joining it
Montenegro is successfully pursuing its European path, said Minister for Human and Minority Rights Mehmed Zenka in a conversation with H.E. Ferdinand Nagy Ambassador of Romania to Montenegro. Membership in large associations such as the NATO Alliance and the European Union is our first choice and we will continue with making all the efforts towards joining the European Union, the Minister said. He reconfirmed that Montenegro remains the leader of progress in the enlargement process.
Minister believes that by joining the Union, Montenegro will contribute to its diversity, wealth of resources, stability and security of the entire European continent. He informed the Ambassador about the responsibilities of the Ministry for Human and Minority Rights and the role that this Ministry has in the pre-accession process, especially following the obligations in Chapter 23.
He said that Montenegro in this process is going through the process of democratic transformation and strengthening of institutions. In relation to that, it is making significant efforts.
Н.Е. Nagy emphasized that despite the numerous challenges the European Union faces, the policy of enlargement will remain among its key priorities. Since Romania is presiding over the Council of the EU since January 1st this year, Ambassador Nagy said that Romania will continue to support Montenegro pursuing its European path, with confirmed dynamics of the implementation of the reform processes.
Montenegro has achieved a significant progress on its EU path, said H.E. He added that Montenegro remains the leader in progress of the enlargement process. He said that Romania will continue to provide all necessary expert assistance throughout the process and exchange experiences that can assist Montenegro in the accession negotiations.
They agreed that once joining the European Union Montenegro will invest in the overall prosperity and stability. In this regard, interlocutors are optimistic that Montenegro is the next EU member state.
