Mehmed Zenka: Empowerment of women and girls is empowerment of the whole humanity

Montenegro is dedicated to the improvement, protection and fulfilment of all human rights and the implementation of the Beijing Platform for Action and Agenda for Sustainable Development 2030 as the key frames for empowerment of women and fulfilling the goals of the sustainable development said Minister Mehmed Zenka at the general debate of the 63^rd meeting of the Commission on the Status of Women, which was opened on March 11^th , in New York.

Minister emphasized that Montenegro has firm legal and institutional framework that guarantees the gender equality and develops policy of equal opportunities. We are developing mechanisms for combating discrimination on gender and sex basis, said Minister, as well as mechanisms for horizontal implementation of the gender equality on all levels.

According to his words, a good partnership has been made between the international and non-governmental organizations in Montenegro regarding planning and implementing the models of gender equality. We are proud that through this concept 2000 people has been educated on every aspect of gender equality so far.

We want to establish gender-responsible process of budgeting, Ministar said, emphasizing that now institutions both on the national and local level have the obligation to plan assets for implementation of their gender eguality agenda.

Minister emphasized that Montenegro has passed a long way in developing systemic approach, buiding institutional capacities and implementing Action plans for gender balance and improvement of women human rights.

He conveyed the message that by investing energy and resources in development gender equality we invest into democracy and economic growth for the future, because empowerment of women and girls is empowerment of all humanity.
