The Government of Montenegro has confirmed its strategic orientation towards strengthening the existing institutions

The Government of Montenegro has confirmed its strategic orientation towards strengthening the existing institutions, which will in practice enable further improvement of the status of minority people and other minority national communities in Montenegrin society. It was highlighted yesterday at Governmental's session, at which the Report on the Development and Protection of Minority Rights other national communities for 2018 was adopted.

The main objective of the Report on the Development and Protection of the Rights of Minorities and Other National Communities for 2018 is to provide an overview of the policy of protecting minorities both in the normative part and in certain areas of social life important for the protection of minority people and other minority national communities.

Good preconditions have been created for further strengthening the capacities of the Ministry for Human and Minority Rights, the Fund for the Protection and Realization of Minority Rights, the Centre for the Preservation and Development of the Culture of Minorities of Montenegro, councils of  minority people and other minority national communities, as well as the work of non-governmental organizations dealing with protection and promotion of minority rights and freedoms is stated in the Report on the Development and Protection of the Rights of Minority Nations and Other Minority National Communities for 2018.

During 2018, the Ministry continued with activities aimed at monitoring the measures from the Memoranda signed with state institutions: the Statistical Office of Montenegro, the University of Montenegro, the Human Resources Management Authority, the Police Academy, the Union of Employers, as well as the Councils of Minority People and Other Minority National Communities.

Continuous cooperation on the empowerment of minority nations and other minority national communities will continue in 2019.
