The position of women is significantly improving in various social segments

The work of institutional mechanisms and other relevant institutions, which bear the activities at the national and local level, contributed to a significant benefits to the position of women in different segments of the society as it was stated in the Report on Implementation of the Plan for Achieving Gender Equality 2017-2021.

The support to the implementation is given from the international organizations UNDP Office and Mission OSCE to Montenegro. Being the partner organizations they gave financial and technical support envisaged by the Plan, Delegation of European Union to Montenegro. Non-governmental sector had an important part in implementation of the activities both, through their own projects and joint projects and campaigns.

The document in its focus has activities in relation to education, promotion of the domestic and international non-discrimination laws, bigger political partitipation of women, their better economic position, as well as combating all kinds of violence.

Data presented in the document have shown that it is necessary to take further strategic measurements to ensure implementation of the strategic goals set by the Action Plan for Achieving Gender Equality.

Regarding this, it is necessary to take measures for increasing the efficiency of the institutional capacities with the aim of implementation and reporting about the activities in the field of gender equality.

At the Governmental session a new Program for Implementation of the Action Plan for Achieving Gender Equality has been adopted for the next two year period.
