Montenegro Airlines, Montenegrin national airline, transported 81 citizens of the Republic of Serbia from Podgorica Airport to Belgrade free of charge. The return flight brought back 92 citizens of Montenegro.
State Secretary at the Ministry of the Interior Dragan Pejanović said, while escorting the passengers to Belgrade, that the Operational Staff, formed by the Minister of the Interior by order of the Prime Minister, is constantly working to return our citizens from abroad, while offering foreign countries free transportation of their citizens.
"This is another good message from Montenegro, a message of solidarity, assistance and unity in the fight against the global invisible enemy – the coronavirus. This affirms one of the three most important foreign policy priorities of the Government and the state of Montenegro - the development and strengthening of good neighbourly relations and regional cooperation," said State Secretary Pejanović.
Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to Montenegro Vladimir Božović said that today's flight is an example of solidarity.
"As Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to Montenegro, I would like to thank the Operational Staff of the Government of Montenegro, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Police Directorate, the Airports of Montenegro and the national carrier Montenegro Airlines for accepting this request to evacuate the citizens of the Republic of Serbia with this humanitarian flight," said Ambassador Božović.
Each passenger on the flight to Belgrade is presented with bottle of Montenegrin wine.
