Herceg Novi, Montenegro (20 July 2019) -- Interior Minister Mevludin Nuhodžić spoke earlier today in Igalo with police officers from Serbia and Croatia, who together with the Montenegrin police have been patroling for seven years in Montenegro's tourist centres during the season.
"Your joint patrols give confidence to those who come from your own country. That is a good thing," the Interior Minister told the police officers.
Police officers from the neighbouring countries told Minister Nuhodžić that they are satisfied with how they are treated by citizens of Montenegro and tourists.
Based on a project launched in 2012, the Montenegrin Police have been hosting their counterparts from six countries - Albania, Croatia, Italy, Northern Macedonia, Serbia and Romania, during the tourist season.
Police officers in joint patrols through direct contact with their citizens contribute significantly to their sense of security, which positively influences the perception of the police work, at the same time testifying to the fact that Montenegro is not only an attractive tourist destination, but also a safe state.
Minister Nuhodžić pointed out that the Montenegrin police attaches special importance to this form of international cooperation which shows that we have established strong professional and friendly relations with partner police services from the region and Europe.
"In this way we reinforce the foundations of further intensive and close communication and coordination in countering global security challenges. Safety is one of the brands of the Montenegrin tourism, and the Ministry of Interior and the Police make every effort to further improve the results we have achieved in this field, because the fact is that we are making progress every year," said Minister of the Interior of Montenegro Mevludin Nuhodžić.
