Montenegrin Minister of Justice Zeljko Sturanovic talked today in Belgrade with Serbian Minister of Justice Zoran Stojkovic

Montenegrin Minister of Justice Zeljko Sturanovic and his Serbian counterpart Zoran Stojkovic met today in Belgrade. The meeting was also attended by Montenegrin Assistant Minister of Justice Branka Lakocevic, Secretary of the Montenegrin Ministry of Justice Srdjan Spaic, Serbian Deputy Minister of Justice Branislav Bjelica and Head of the European Integration Department Alaksandra Popovic.

At todays meeting, representatives of both ministries confirmed their readiness to take immediate and decisive action, within their scope of responsibilities, against organized crime, terrorism, trafficking in human beings and narcotics, whose suppression is a matter of common concern of the region, Europe and the entire world.

In addition, the delegations of the two ministries of justice considered the issues concerning the constitution of the State Union Court, implementation of the European Convention on Human Rights and Freedoms, implementation of the Constitutional Charter and urgent settlement of the legislation on the state representative of Serbia and Montenegro at the European Court of Human Rights. The meetings agenda also contained the issues concerning the division of authority between the member countries ministries of justice and that of the State Union, as well as the identification of the fields that are the sole responsibility the member states ministries.

A consulting working group was established and instructed to coordinate the cooperation between the two ministries. The two parties agreed to draft an agreement on cooperation, to be sighed at the next ministerial meeting in Podgorica.
