Real Estate Administration Global Surveyor's Day
Global Surveyor's Day
On March 21, we celebrate the World Surveyor's Day, established in 2018 by the European Council of Surveyors, the National Association of Surveyors of the USA and the International Association of Surveyors, all with the aim of recognizing surveyors, geodetic science and organizations that have surveyed the Earth and explored the space.
The beginnings of measurement can be found in the earliest times with the Babylonians, Assyrians, Egyptians and Greeks, whereby the oldest plan of a property is recorded from the period 1500 BC in Egypt, where there was a drawing on papyrus representing a plan of mines, as well as a plan of the city of Nippur in Mesopotamia. The latest measurement data are nowadays, this millisecond in real time, which can be checked on the Geoportal of our Real Estate Administration.
Being a surveyor in old Montenegro meant being that special person who would interpret and verify all property rights from the Ottoman Empire, the Venetian Republic and the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy, and then measure the same with a stick and rope. Through the Ottoman legacy of property books and intabulation books, Napoleon's measurements of the Montenegrin water area, Austro-Hungarian systems of plans and maps through ledgers and documents, all property rights were measured and marked by surveyors, and on the basis of which the current Real Estate Cadastre in Montenegro was established. Surveyors crossed the inaccessible area of the Montenegrin mountains, whose soil is karst and thorns, orienting themselves by landmarks, today evolving into satellite signal navigation via the Montepos platform.
Appreciating the geodetic profession, on the basis of whose activity and work every capital project in our country begins and ends, enabling precise measurement of borders, improving the geospatial system of Montenegro, participating in the construction of infrastructure, but also preserving each individual property right, we are dedicated to improving skills and knowledge so that our employees keep up with all the technical and technological achievements of the profession, and that innovation enables them to work and process data easily.
On my own behalf, and on behalf of the Real Estate Administration, I would like to congratulate all my colleagues on the World Day of Surveyors and Geodesy, and thank you for the dedication and commitment you contribute to our Real Estate Administration being recognized in the region and the world as an institution dedicated to the profession and end users of services, and as such contributes to the development of society and the elimination of barriers in business.
