Participation of Minister Radulović at the second part of the meeting of NATO foreign ministers
During the second day of the meeting of NATO foreign ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs Đorđe Radulović participated on session devoted to Russia. Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Finland and Sweden also participated, together with High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.
NATO allies and partners considered security implications of the Russian activities and ways of joint and coordinated approach. As response, allies pointed out the importance of unity and solidarity and agreed on continuation of strengthening the capacities for deterrence and defense, simultaneously openness for dialogue with Russia through Council NATO-Russia (NRC) meetings. The messages of support for prolongation of new START between USA and Russia, as well as commitment to mechanisms for monitoring of the control of weapon, disarmament and nonproliferation.
Minister Radulović confirmed full support of Montenegro to NATO twofold approach to Russia, based on strengthening of deterrence and defense system from one, and commitment for dialogue on the other side. He stressed that dialogue is necessary for better mutual understanding and decreasing the risk, thus Montenegro support such approach with simultaneous firming of common defense.
On the margins of a meeting, Minister Radulović had short conversation with Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of Republic of France Jean-Yves Le Drian, as well as Head of Bureau for European Affairs of the State Department Ambassador Philip T. Reeker.
