Podgorica, Montenegro (5 June 2014) – Montenegro’s Customs found 250 kilograms of cocaine, with a market value of more than EUR 12.5 million, hidden in a banana container shipped from Ecuador via the Montenegrin port of Bar. This is the largest drug seizure in Montenegro ever, Director of the Customs Administration Vladan Joković told the press earlier today.
Mr Joković explained that customs officers had checked the container with bananas after which the officers of the anti-smuggling department opened it and found a bunker in the floor containing 223 packages of cocaine.
The Customs Administration informed the Police and the Prosecutor’s Office, which will take further actions within their jurisdiction.
