It is unreasonable and unnecessary to communicate information that can open up space for various interpretations on concession arrangement for Montenegro's airports

Podgorica, Montenegro (10 April 2019) -- Regarding the claims made by the CDM portal that the Turkish TAV "could take over the Montenegrin airports," for the purpose of providing true and complete information to the public, we are stating the following:

Although the article reads that the Ministry of Transport and Maritime Affairs confirmed to that media that renowned Turkish companies are interested in the concession agreement for the Montenegrin airports, we consider it unjustified and unnecessary to communicate any information that can open up space for different interpretations directed towards the advertising of certain parties interested in the airports in Podgorica and Tivat.

The legal procedure is not familiar with the formulation  "so that somebody could take over the Montenegrin airports," given the fact that the Government has not yet adopted the concession agreement, as the first step in that process.

We are informing the public that creating the preconditions for its adoption is at the final stage, which, at the same time, means the announcement of the following stages recognised by the legal procedure. Therefore, any announcement at this point, and the mentioning of any country or company, can only harm the process that will be marked by transparency, equality of all participants, and attracting the most renowned companies. We clearly point out that no one should jeopardise the principles to which the Government, as the owner of the Airports of Montenegro, remains committed until the end of the process.
