200,000 Sinopharm vaccines arrive in Montenegro
The shipment of 200,000 doses of Chinese Sinopharm vaccine arrived in Montenegro last night. The vaccines were procured through direct bilateral negotiations between the governments of Montenegro and the People's Republic of China. The arrived shipment will be distributed today to all health institutions and vaccination points throughout the country.
On behalf of the Government of Montenegro, the shipment was received by Minister of Health Jelena Borovinić Bojović and Director General of the Directorate for Digital Health in the Ministry of Health Aleksandar Sekulić, as well as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to Montenegro, H.E. Liu Jin.
Expressing satisfaction that a large shipment of Chinese vaccines arrived in Montenegro, Minister Borovinić Bojović thanked the People's Republic of China for the exceptional cooperation and traditionally good relations, which resulted in another large delivery.
Minister Borovinić Bojović informed the Montenegrin public that the mass vaccination in Montenegro continues and used the opportunity to thank His Excellency, Mr. Ambassador, as well as all citizens and the government of the People's Republic of China, which once again showed great solidarity, friendship, and traditionally good relations between the two countries.
The Minister reminded that the current epidemiological situation in the country is very good, that the tourist season is underway, but that it additionally obliges us to be careful, to continue to respect epidemiological measures and to continue vaccination in order to protect ourselves and the health of the entire nation.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to Montenegro Liu Jin said that he was satisfied to witness the arrival of the Chinese vaccines in Montenegro for the third time, which is, as he said, another proof of the friendship between the two countries.
I am glad that the epidemiological situation in Montenegro is improving, and the incidence of coronavirus cases is at its lowest level since July last year. I hope that this good trend will continue, that the tourist season will begin, and that the economy will recover, said Ambassador Liu.
He also said that this shipment arrived at a special time when it marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, and on 6 July it will be 15 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Montenegro, which is especially important.
