Abazović pays official visit to Municipality of Tivat: All activities aimed at the tourist season
Deputy Prime Minister Dritan Abazović paid an official visit to the Municipality of Tivat today.
DPM Abazović met with President of the Municipality Željko Komnenović, President of the Municipal Assembly Andrija Petković and Vice President of the Municipality Goran Božović. Abazović stated that this visit is part of a series of visits to coastal municipalities aimed at, in cooperation with local governments, preparing Montenegro for the tourist season. Abazović emphasised that, among other things, the goal of his visit was to intensify communication between the Municipality of Tivat and the Government of Montenegro.
DPM Abazović emphasised that he is fully aware of all the inherited problems in the Municipality and that it is extremely unbelievable that a tourist brand, such as Tivat, has financial problems.
Speaking about the epidemiological situation, it was noted that the coronavirus situation in Tivat is good. Deputy Prime Minister Abazović indicated that a mass vaccination will start at the end of April, which will aim at immunizing a large part of the citizens in order to better prepare for the summer tourist season. In that context, Abazović said that priority will be given to employees in the tourism and hospitality industry.
President of the Municipality of Tivat Željko Komnenović thanked DPM Abazović for the visit and stressed that his visit shows that the new Government is focused on Tivat and that we are on an excellent path to achieving close cooperation aimed at overcoming many existing problems.
Komnenović stated that he was pleased with the readiness of the Government of Montenegro and the coastal local governments to direct all their resources towards achieving the best possible tourist result.
"Our goal is to achieve a tourist product of at least 50% compared to the last successful tourist season in 2019. I talked about establishing direct flights from Niš to Tivat, which starts in June, and we are negotiating the flights from Omsk to Tivat. A successful tourist season will be a precondition for all further activities," said Komnenović.
The meeting was an opportunity to discuss the Law on Spatial Planning, the current political situation in the country, as well as reforms in the Prosecutor's Office and the security sector.
After the meeting, DPM Abazović and representatives of the local self-government visited the Daily Centre for Children and Youth with Disabilities in Tivat.
During his visit to Tivat, Deputy Prime Minister Dritan Abazović visited Porto Montenegro and Luštica Bay.
