Another 5,000 doses of Russian vaccine arrive in Montenegro
The second shipment of another 5,000 doses of Russia's Sputnik V vaccine arrived in Montenegro, which means that we have so far received ten of the agreed 50,000 doses of that manufacturer.
Minister of Health Jelena Borovinić Bojović and State Secretary of the Ministry of Health Borko Bajić welcomed the second batch of vaccines at the Podgorica Airport.
So far, a total of 42,000 vaccines have arrived in Montenegro. I use the opportunity to motivate Montenegrin citizens to get vaccinated because the vaccine is completely safe, effective and safe, but at the same time I warn that the vaccination process requires some time. It is necessary that we jointly adhere to epidemiological measures in order to get out of the situation we are in as soon as possible, said Borovinić Bojović.
Montenegro is negotiating to expand the contract for another 200,000 doses of Russian vaccine.
Montenegro and donation from Serbia
After an initial donation of 2,000 doses of Russian vaccine from Serbia, Montenegro is expected to receive another 2,000 doses next week.
Montenegro and Chinese Sinopharm vaccine
We remind that a donation of 30,000 doses of Sinopharm vaccine from China arrived in Montenegro earlier. Negotiations are underway to purchase another 201,200 doses from the same manufacturer.
Montenegro and the Astra Zeneca vaccine
This week we expect the information on the delivery date of the first batch of 84,000 doses of Astra Zeneca vaccine that Montenegro expects within the COVAX programme.
Montenegro and the Pfizer vaccine
We remind that negotiations are underway with the company Pfizer-BioNTech on the procurement of 150 thousand doses of vaccine.
Montenegro and vaccines from the EU-WHO mechanism
In addition to these negotiations, the European Union, in partnership with the World Health Organization, has launched a regional project to support the vaccination of the population of the Western Balkans. In cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Austrian Embassy in Montenegro, we learned that Austria will coordinate the supply of vaccines to the countries of the Western Balkans within this mechanism. To our knowledge, Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine has been selected to this end.
