Border control
Border control includes: state border surveillance, border checks and threat assessment for state border security and is performed for purpose of:
- Securing the state border;
- Protection of human life and health and the environment;
- Preventing the commission and detection of criminal offenses and misdemeanours and finding and apprehending their perpetrators;
- Prevention of illegal migrations;
- Prevention and detection of other activities and actions that endanger the security of the state border, public order and public health.)
The Law on Border Control sets out legal preconditions for the establishment of an efficient and comprehensive system of protection and control of the state border in accordance with EU standards and the Schengen Code, which will provide adequate control over the movement and stay of foreign nationals, rapid flow of people and goods on Montenegrin borders, with prevention of all forms of cross-border crime.
This Law regulates border control, the manner of performing control of crossing the state border of Montenegro, i.e. border checks, control in the interior, international border police cooperation and cooperation of other border services at the state border.
