DPM Pavićević meets with Ambassador of Slovakia to Montenegro
In a cordial meeting between Deputy Prime Minister for Labour, Education, Health, and Social Affairs, Srđan Pavićević, and the Ambassador of the Slovak Republic to Montenegro, Boris Gandel, the two nations reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing bilateral relations and advancing common goals, particularly in the context of Montenegro's EU accession.
Ambassador Gandel congratulated DPM Pavićević on his appointment, expressing confidence that Montenegro, under the new leadership, is gaining stability and progressing towards its strategic objectives related to EU integration. He noted that Montenegro holds the potential for an accelerated EU accession, possibly before 2030.
Highlighting Slovakia's significant contribution to Montenegro's independence, Ambassador Gandel emphasised the importance of friendly relations between Montenegro and Slovakia as a crucial support and link to the EU, a path Montenegro is decisively approaching. He suggested that the EU, especially through the "Friends of the Western Balkans" group, should provide stronger political support and vision regarding the accession of Western Balkan countries to the EU.
DPM Pavićević expressed gratitude for Slovakia's contributions to Montenegro's developmental and transitional journey. He provided an overview of the current state of affairs and outlined areas for cooperation within the three sectors under his coordination.
Both parties agreed that the Western Balkans lacks standards and responsibility in policy implementation and legal regulation. They also acknowledged the broader Western civilization's prolonged absence of visionary spirit and a clear awareness of the benefits of expanding to broader regions, including the Western Balkans.
Despite Montenegro's size and the challenges of a 30-year hybrid regime, DPM Pavićević stressed the country's determination to set an example and send an encouraging message to the entire region. He emphasised the importance of fostering good neighbourly relations, practicing pacifism, and playing a constructive role in resolving conflicts.
DPM Pavićević concluded by underscoring the significance of adopting and practicing values that make Montenegro a credible and reliable factor in shaping the European future.
