The German Ministry of Health will donate 1,536 unit doses of casirivimab and imdevimab monoclonal antibodies to the Ministry of Health of Montenegro, consisting of 1,536 bottles of casirivimab and 1,536 bottles of imdevimab for combined use worth 3,172,454 euros, said Minister of Health Jelena Borovinić Bojović, who is leading the Montenegrin delegation during an official visit to the prestigious Robert Koch Institute and Charité University Hospital.

Montenegro is immensely grateful to Germany for the support so far, primarily in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic, with an emphasis on the upcoming donation of monoclonal antibodies used in the initial phase of the fight against COVID-19 infection. The value of this donation is 3,172,454 euros. However, it exceeds the cost, bearing in mind that, with the help of these drugs, we will try to suppress the disease at its very beginning, said Borovinić Bojović.

Earlier today, the Minister of Health visited the Charité University Hospital with her colleagues from the Clinical Center of Montenegro and the Institute of Public Health of Montenegro. They saw all the benefits of telemedicine on the spot and visited the intensive care units, where doctors from Montenegro will be trained in the coming period. I am extremely glad that my esteemed colleagues from Berlin recognised the Clinical Centre of Montenegro and the Public Health Institute as reliable partners. We will certainly justify the trust, the Minister said.

The Minister of Health and her colleagues will also visit the Robert Koch Institute. It is expected that the Insitute of Public Health of Montenegro and the Robert Koch Institute will sign a Memorandum of Cooperation, which will formalise the current cooperation between the two institutions.

The delegation will also attend the opening of the World Health Summit in Berlin on Sunday, 24 October, under the auspices of Chancellor Angela Merkel, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, President of France Emmanuel Macron and WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.
