Gorčević: Intergovernmental Conference a reward for achievements and incentive for new successes
We are confident that our European partners will recognize that Montenegro has a credible and pro-European government, along with a strong parliamentary majority that will respond to all challenges related to European integration, leading Montenegro into the European Union, stated the Minister of European Affairs, Maida Gorčević, following the confirmation of the fifteenth Intergovernmental Conference between Montenegro and the European Union.
The Council of the European Union has announced that the fifteenth Intergovernmental Conference between Montenegro and the European Union will take place in Brussels on 29 January.
Minister Gorčević mentioned that the Montenegrin delegation at the International Conference will be led by Prime Minister Milojko Spajić. She emphasised that this will be an opportunity to present everything the Government, along with the parliamentary majority, has achieved in these two and a half months.
I am confident that, after two years, the Intergovernmental Conference will be an opportunity to present the Roadmap for European integration. Additionally, we will showcase what has been done in the two and a half months of the 44th Government's work, said Gorčević.
The Montenegrin delegation, during the Intergovernmental Conference, where they will meet with foreign ministers of EU member states, will present the Roadmap for meeting interim benchmarks in Chapters 23 and 24, the current state of the negotiation process, priorities in the rule of law, such as judicial appointments, the judicial reform strategy, and legislative changes. They will provide an overview of the results of the Public Administration Reform, where amendments and the adoption of numerous laws are planned. The delegation will also discuss economic criteria, with a particular focus on the successes achieved in Chapters 5 – Public Procurement, 18 – Statistics, and 32 – Financial Control.
